TooMuchCoffeeToday I was reading through the comments posted on this site and on PajamasMedia and found myself returning to one in particular…

“This is Africa
Sadly, these are Africans sorting out African problems in a typically African way.”

My first thought… what a callous, cold hearted comment? My second thought… Maybe he is right. Just maybe this is the way problems are dealt with in Africa. Tribal, territorial and tragic. Blame, there has been plenty of, blame Mbeki, Zuma, Mugabe, the police, the Zimbabweans, home affairs, colonialism, capitalism, communism, the politicians, the voters or maybe even that idiot who writes the TooMuchCoffee Blog! Solutions? Well those seem to be few and far between, let me rephrase that, sane and workable solutions seem to be few and far between. Every man and his dog knows how THEY would sort out the problem, just not sure they are all that workable. There is the immediate solution as to how to stem the violence, there is the intermediate solution about what to do with the homeless and the refugees, there is the future solution about how to prevent this from happening again… stronger borders, stricter laws, no foreigners are only part of it. Job creation, education, accommodation, tolerance, understanding and accountability rank much higher.TooMuchCoffee

So do I keep complaining and lamenting and wondering what is happening in the minds of the people perpetrating this violence or maybe I should go and interview one of the attackers? Maybe I should hear in their words what could possibly cause so much hatred and anger that you can murder a man who yesterday was your neighbour, rape a woman you may have travelled to work with last week and make homeless thousands of innocent children who had no part in the decisions taken by their parents? To me it all seems inconceivable, but then I wake up every morning with food in the fridge, a little money in the bank, two cars in the garage, a job to go to and a school for my children. My father always said “Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes… that way by the time he realises you are judging him you will be two miles away and have his shoes!” My father is a wise man.

TooMuchCoffeeI have decided to interview people on this subject and I will attempt to post short video clips where I can, don’t worry I am not about to don a flack jacket and a helmet and head off for the war zones with TV taped across the roof of my Renault Scenic, I just want to hear the opinions of others.

On a slightly more pleasant note I have been invited by PajamasMedia.com to become a regular contributor to their site, my first article appeared today and can be viewed by clicking HERE.

Thanks again to HassleFree, Tresor, Peds, MadGenius, class1-Fruit and the many other contributors to this blog! Keep them coming…
